Foreword: We Are Survivors

If you have stumbled upon this blog somehow and have experienced self-harming, or know someone who has done so, you must have a pretty basic idea of what the deal is. Self-mutilation is no joking matter. Being a survivor, I know how it feels. Many people have the misconception that it is an act of seeking attention, but please be aware that attention is the LAST thing on any depressed person's mind. We are all humans, we all have feelings. These feelings get hurt sometimes, and sometimes the emotional cuts are so skin deep that people can't help but torture themselves with the physical pain, just so they can feel relieved. It is NOT an act of cowardice, it is a cry for help. If you know ANYONE who has self harmed before, please do not make fun of them, or laugh at them, or give them hell. All they want is someone to hold their hand and wipe their tears and tell them everything is gonna be okay. We all wanna feel loved in this world. Just listen to what we have to say, these plastic smiles and fake sparkles in our eyes are not the real deal, the broken hearts that cry out with pain are.  I have created this blog because I know so many people who have self-harmed, both personally and by reading their stories. I want to help stop the pain, I want to raise awareness, I want to make a difference. This is something that will help me sleep at night, knowing I have made a difference, and someone out there has started believing again. If you want to raise your voice with me against this issue, tell me your story. I will post it on my blog. It would mean a lot to me, and people who are victims to help them come clean. We will not be victims, we will be SURVIVORS. Let's take a stand against the pain! :)
